Nightlife in Canterbury

Lady Luck Bar, CanterburyThere are a ton of bars and pubs in Canterbury. Everything from Wetherspoons (two of them!) to wine bars. Added by Les Ellis

Lady Luck is a new bar in town, located on the high street close to the Westgate towers. It serves beer, wine, cider, and also a variety of cocktails, and with late closing times, it's always popular with the locals, particularly the students in town. It has a very grungy feel, a great rocky jukebox, and a pool table in the back. A good time can be had by all here.

If your looking for food and drink, the Old Brewery Tavern, located off the high street behind the Abode Hotel, provides good food and a nightclub like experience on Fridays and Saturdays. They also put on a live music night on a Wednesday so this is a popular place for most, although it's a little more expensive than some of the high street bars.

Bar TapsLooking for a long night partying and dancing? Check out Alberrys, located off the high street. This venue has two bars, one on the ground floor, and one down in the basement. Resembling a tube station in shape, the basement usually has a DJ and dancing. If dancing isn't your thing, there are also sofas and the more chilled bar upstairs. They also serve good food during the day, and are available for private bookings.

Do you like a proper pint? Many of the bars in Canterbury serve good beers, supplied by the local Shepherd Neame Brewery, based in Faversham. The Hobgoblin, The Cricketers, and Caseys are all good places to get a nice pint on the high street, or slightly further afield are The Parrot and The Dolphin, which also serve good food.

There are many other good bars in Canterbury and it would take you a long time to discover them all, but do sample some of the nightlife while you're there and remember to drink responsibly!
